Mt.Haggin Climbs

10/26/2003: A local friend and I climbed Mt.Haggin this fall, which was about 10,000 feet. Took all day, (7am to 4pm) and I was sore for two days, blisters on feet, etc... We found an old Teddy K.-like cabin up by Hearst Lake, and eventually made it to the top, where the photo was shot looking down on the lake. I wanted to get closer to the edge, but the wind was blowing so hard I thought I would fall off. The other shot is looking up at Mt.Haggin from the Old Works Golf Course. We heard wildlife rustling through the trees on the trails below the tree line, but saw no bears.

12/06/2003: The other series of pics (below) are from the Mt. Haggin X-C Ski trail area. This was a shorter climb to a much lower peak. We wore snowshoes until we got to the steep icy rock. Then we took them off and scaled the peak, where we spooked a coyote. He had his dark winter coat, so he looked healthier and bigger than I expected a coyote to look. He wasn't too happy with us. All photos were taken from the peak, except for the vertical landscape shot, which was taken from below looking up at the target peak as we were coming back down.
