Deer and Elk Hunts 2005

Nov 5-6, 2005: Deer hunting. This year I got my deer on my own for the first time. 2x2. I had to drag him down a mountain and across the creek (knee deep) and through a marsh in the snow and ice. Then I tossed him in the back of Lucie's clean Jeep and went home to thaw out and eat a whole pizza by myself. I later found out that Chuck got a 2 pointer as well (not pictured). Then George came home the next day with a 5x5 and was disappointed that he didn't get something bigger. I figure at this rate, I'll bring home a 6x6 in 2009...

ELK: Chuck (antlerless) and George (no pic) got their elk. Randy Johnson (The Small Unit) is also pictured with a nice elk (photo next to George's deer). I still have not had a shot at one, although I'd be doing OK if I had ram or moose tags. Saw seven moose one morning, and on the Nov 23rd afternoon, we saw a big horn sheep (ram with the horns like on the St. Louis football helmets) run down a slope at us. It was cold and snowy that day, so I decided to wear pants.

The goose landed almost in the back of George's truck, but then he took off, and George had to put on waders and track him for a quarter mile or so. He eventually jumped on him and beat him down with a big stick. Chad , Del and Tim helped by drinking Gatorade and relaxing back at the trucks.
