The Schnabels and the Saylors went to see the Bannack Ghost town in southwest Montana. It was a gold town loaded with criminals. The history of the rough saloon is written on the walls and of all the towns mentioned, only one was not in Montana -- Cedar Rapids, IA. The saloon owner was married to a girl from Anamosa... There's a book about her life there, containing all the letters she wrote to Cedar Rapids and Anamosa to her mother.

We also dug for crystals and camped at Grasshopper near Maverick mountain. Chuck and I were drinking beers around the fire just after midnight when everyone was asleep, and were startled by the sound of an animal crashing through the brush between our campers. Probably a deer or an Elk, but I grabbed the fire stick in case a bear charged me (like that would do any good).
