05/07/2004: Ian's 3rd or 4th trip to the school yard with his bike resulted in his first solo flight. Susan happened to come along and witnessed him just taking off on his own. Unfortunately I had been so focused on teaching how to balance, that I forgot to mention the braking system. He crashed beautifully into the chain link fence. A couple more times, and he'll be riding down stairs, etc... Photos are after the successful session as he was parking his bike in the garage.
