Ian's First Lift Ticket

02/15/2004: Ian's first lift ticket. We went to Discovery Basin and we immediately opened the day
by taking what I thought was the kid's lift, but it turned out that the kids lift was out of sight behind the lodge
until it was too late. Ian slipped trying to get on the lift, so the lift operator threw him on a seat all by himself
two chairs behind me.
This lift went all the way to the top of the mountain, and I must have yelled to him to hold on tight with both
hands ten different times.
He wasn't scared, but I was. The drop from a chair like that would be like jumping from a five story building.
At the top, the easiest way down was all blue (intermediate). I held his arm and we actually skied all the way
down without crashing
After that, the rest of the day was cake. Ian wasn't interested in snow-plowing, stopping, or turning.
He just pointed his skis straight downhill and got mad whenever I
slowed him down. He wanted me to call him Ian "The Rocket" Saylor...
